Kendra James

Hi, I'm Kendra James, a children's book author and the Community Outreach and Volunteer Coordinator for HorsePlay Hippotherapy and Therapeutic Riding, Inc. I have a background in education with a Master's degree in Advanced Studies of Teacher Leadership and a Bachelor's degree in Education, certified in grades 4-8 Science and Social Studies. Over the years, I've had the pleasure of teaching various subjects across these grade levels. I also served as the Director of Summer and After School Programs at Episcopal Collegiate School in Little Rock.

I'm a proud graduate of Conway High School and the University of Central Arkansas. Now, as a mother of three young children, I'm inspired daily to make a positive impact. My kids are the driving force behind my desire to leave the world a better place. Writing children's books, like my debut Charlie Horse, is my way of giving back. All proceeds from my book(s) support nonprofits and local organizations like HorsePlay.

Looking ahead, I plan to continue writing books tied to causes I care about and help HorsePlay grow to support more children and families. I'd also love to travel the country, reading my books to children everywhere. For more about me and my work, visit kendrajamescreative.com.

My Journey with HorsePlay and Children's Books

Hey there! I’m Kendra James, and I wanted to share a bit about my journey with you. As a children's book author and the Community Outreach and Volunteer Coordinator for HorsePlay Hippotherapy and Therapeutic Riding, Inc., I’ve found a unique way to blend my passions for education and community service.

I’ve always loved teaching. I have a Master's degree in Advanced Studies of Teacher Leadership and a Bachelor's degree in Education, certified to teach grades 4-8 Science and Social Studies. Throughout my career, I’ve taught a variety of subjects and had the opportunity to serve as the Director of Summer and After School Programs at Episcopal Collegiate School in Little Rock. Each role has shaped my approach to education and community involvement.

Growing up in Conway and graduating from Conway High School and the University of Central Arkansas, I’ve always felt a strong connection to my roots. Now, as a mom to three wonderful kids, I’m more motivated than ever to make a positive impact. They inspire me every day and have ignited a passion in me to leave the world a better place than I found it.

Writing children's books has become my way of giving back. My first book, Charlie Horse, is not just a story; it’s a mission. All proceeds go to HorsePlay Hippotherapy, a nonprofit that helps children with disabilities through therapeutic riding. Seeing the joy and benefits these kids get from our programs is incredibly rewarding.

Looking ahead, my goal is to keep writing books that support causes close to my heart. I want each story to be a beacon of hope and a source of support for various nonprofits. I also dream of traveling around the country, sharing my books with children everywhere, and spreading messages of kindness and acceptance.

Thanks for taking the time to learn a bit about me and my journey. If you want to know more or keep up with my work, check out kendrajamescreative.com. Here’s to making a difference, one book at a time!
